Apparently, I’m still not over Cinderella.
Belle is now an inventor. (Her father became an artist.) She’s always had this, “I’m not like all the other girls in this town” thing going on but now she builds things. She had this washing machine that the rest of the women in that poor provincial town could only gawk at.
Rapunzel learned to think for herself. She went out (while battling inner conflict), had her time at a tavern, and made friends with a bunch of thugs who each had a dream. In the end, she had to save Eugene. So, it wasn’t all, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!”
And then there’s Snow White. She’s a warrior now. She fought for a kingdom that is rightfully hers and took it back from the Evil Queen. (Granted, it wasn’t a Disney production but still.)
Cinderella… Well, she was still this fortunate little girl, incredibly loved by her parents who just wanted to go to the ball, marry the prince, and live happily ever after. What’s up with that?!
